Ever wondered how the same feature is viewed from the perspective of a user and the people who built it? In this post, I'll be talking to Sascha & Mariusz, who are responsible for engineering, product and UX, to talk me through their thoughts on our top 5 most popular features.
Lorraine: Gyana integrates with a huge variety of files, databases, web apps and more, empowering you to migrate siloed reports into a single source of truth.
The current favourite trio of integrations is Facebook Ads, Google Ads and Google Analytics. Our integration connectors put the emphasis on ‘any’ when we say that you can connect any data source, all within a few clicks.
Sascha/Mariusz: What use is a data analytics tool if you cannot use the data you're interested in? Our integration feature is the first touch point for many users so wanted to make sure we get it right. We started with the options to upload CSV files and connect to Google Sheets but we always knew that the killer feature would be native integrations with other data-collecting platforms. And indeed 40% of our integrations now are connectors.
By working with Fivetran we make sure that we have a rock-solid, tested and trusted service to build this feature on. We now have over 800 connectors nearly half of them connecting to Google Analytics, Facebook Ads or Google Ads.
Lately, we have added the option to connect to any REST API with our Custom API integration. There is still a lot of work to be done but we hope this will allow you to always be able to use your data in Gyana.
Lorraine: What’s better than standard metrics and insights? Custom metrics and insights! Our formula node removes the restriction many agencies face when relying on insights and analytics directly from the ad manager, without building complex flows in tools like Google Sheets.
Our formula node gives you the ability to customise your metrics from CPC and CTR to customer conversion and multi touch attribution. You get the power of a spreadsheet, but without needing to manually re-run your work every week.
Sascha/Mariusz: When you build a data agnostic analytics platform, you quickly reach a point where it becomes impossible to predict what operations our customers want to perform, and a block based workflow just doesn't cut it anymore. Every tool - including us - sooner or later realises that the only way to provide complete flexibility is via formulas.
We started with providing all the basic functionalities and recently started adding more advanced functions like regular expressions.
Lorraine: The days of manually creating identical reports for multiple clients are over. In Gyana, you can duplicate individual workflows, dashboards or entire projects and apply them to different data sources or clients.
Sascha/Mariusz: Project duplication together with automations might become our biggest differentiator from other BI tools. As it turns out you can achieve a lot of things Gyana can do by hand-stitching different tools together. It won’t be straightforward and might take some years of your life expectancy but it is possible.
Now imagine you have to do it again for each client. Now imagine you have dozens of clients. Project duplication is our first step to escape this copy-pasta nightmare and we have a lot of ideas to make this process even easier. Project templates are in the pipeline and I cannot wait to build plug and play workflows and dashboards for different connectors.
Lorraine: Gyana eliminates repetitive work by automating your entire project, so when new data is generated in your data source it automatically populates your workflows and your dashboards!
This means less time jumping between different ad platforms and individually updating your daily/weekly/monthly reports, and more time put into actually analysing the data and the trends.
Sascha/Mariusz: Our initial feature set was pretty clear: we needed integrations to help users access their data, workflows to manipulate it and dashboards to present the results. Once we had built the first versions of these stages it became clear that this wasn’t enough to make us more than a robust spreadsheet tool.
The automate feature catapulted our tool to the 21st century. You should need no clicks to see your insights up-to-date, always. Like for Project duplication, I see a bright future for automations, e.g. enabling you to trigger web-hooks to send emails to clients identified in a workflow.
Lorraine: Customisation is important, especially for agencies, as you want your reports to be an extension of your brand/company.
We've made sure that whenever you send out your reports to your clients, everything from the domain, to the fonts and colors used on the dashboard will be synonymous with your company.
Sascha/Mariusz: Like it or not, looks matter and we wanted to make sure that once the “inner values” are sorted you can give your dashboard the look and feel you desire. By default, we make sure Gyana dashboards look good out of the box, but give you the ability to tweak everything from the font size, background colors and custom embeds.
